I sing for fun, what options do you recommend?

You found the right place! We have several members who have fostered their love of singing through our online classes. In order to gain the most momentum, we recommend joining our online membership which offers a weekly class designed to help you grow through personalized training in a group environment.

I can’t commit the full three months, what would you recommend?

If you find a month that you CAN commit to, join our Online Membership or NYC Musical Theatre Membership. You can supplement with the industry workshops, private lessons, and our substack community.

What is Wail Social Club?

We love our members! So we recently started an initiative to coordinate in-person hangs with Wailers in the NYC area. You do not have to be a current member to join. If you have taken class with us in the past or have signed up for an upcoming class, you are welcome!

What are your Online classes like?

We meet through Zoom. Each singer gets 1:1 time with Shannah or DJ to use as they wish. Many students choose to focus on a phrase, section, or a full song that they have identified needing help with. All vocal styles are welcome and coachable with both Shannah and DJ. Classes are recorded for playback and available to you for two weeks.

What are your in Person classes like?

We meet in a rehearsal studio in midtown NYC. An industry accompanist is provided to practice the full experience of the audition environment. Each singer gets 1:1 coaching with Shannah and the accompanist. Bring any genre of music you would like coaching on. Many of our students are auditioning actors, so they will work on songs for their book, callback material, or they will sing through songs they are considering for a concert or rep. The singers who are pop/rock focused are welcome to bring their original or cover material. Your time is best utilized when you have the song memorized and have identified where you would like coaching.

what are industry workshops like?

Each Musical Director or Casting Director operates their workshops differently. Most of them are offered in midtown NYC with an industry accompanist. Most workshops offer 10-15 minutes for you to sing, receive feedback and sing again. There is typically time for Q&A too. Whether you are a commercial artist interested in musical theatre or an experienced auditioner, this is a great opportunity to build a relationship with others in the industry.

Booking

  • Each month, you book your membership classes. There are no refunds on missed or cancelled classes. However, you may transfer one absence per month to a friend. This must be coordinated by the student. Email katie@shannahraevocalstudio.com with your friend’s email address and class date/time.

  • If observing instead of singing, join via Zoom without registering.  

  • Monthly calendars and booking codes are shared by the 30th of the prior month.  

Class & Lesson Cancellations

  • Cancellations must be made 24+ hours in advance; late cancellations are non-refundable.  

  • COVID-19 exposure or positive tests waive the 24-hour requirement.  

  • Email cancellations to Katie Leffen and cc Shannah.  

  • In inclement weather, in-person classes move online with 24-hour notice.  

Late Policy

  • Notify Shannah via email if you’ll be late. Late arrivals should enter between singers to avoid disruptions.  

  • Arriving on time fosters community and ensures every singer feels supported.  

Payment Policy

  • Membership fees are processed monthly via Stripe. For alternative payment arrangements, email Katie Leffen.  

  • For our online only membership, confirm your commitment for the following month by the 20th of the prior month.

  • Our NYC based memberships require a three month commitment.

  • Resolve declined payments within 48 hours to avoid membership freezes. Missed classes due to non-payment cannot be rescheduled.  

  • All sales are final.
